Burnell and Severn Valley LJC lively
Burnell and Severn Valley Local Joint Committee (LJC) was a lively affair at Stapleton Village Hall on 25 June 2012. The Leader of the Council, Keith Barrow, talked to the meeting and answered questions about the exciting new directions, following the move to a strategic commissioning council and the formation of ip&e group, the council’s new trading company.
Keith spoke for some time and answered a number of questions raised by the public, and at the end of the meeting people left knowing considerably more.
A number of applications were approved, including supporting the Shropshire Federation of Young Farmers towards their huge project of constructing an educational space in woodland setting, which many Shropshire pupils will benefit from in the future when they take part in offsite Forest School activities.
The next meeting of Burnell and Severn Valley LJC will be on Monday 24 September 2012 (venue to be confirmed).
Shropshire Councillors Tim Barker and Claire Wild commented:
“It was great to have Keith out to speak to people in our area; we are both really committed to encouraging public engagement, and it was really good to have an opportunity to gauge how the people in our area are feeling about the upcoming changes. We particularly noted a member of the public’s concerns about staff morale in Shropshire Council, and as well as supporting the new initatives to address this, we also want staff to know that we are available to them as well as our communities during these developing times – we’re a team.”
