Oswestry LJC meeting focuses on future of public services

The next Oswestry Local Joint Committee (LJC) meeting will be held tomorrow (Thursday 14 June 2012) and will be focus on the future of council, hospital and police services for Shropshire.

The meeting will be held at Eastern Oswestry Community Centre, starting at 6pm with a drop in session hosted by Shropshire and Telford Hospital NHS Trust where they will be talking about the changes to the services delivered from the Shrewsbury and Telford hospitals.

This will be followed in the meeting, starting at 7pm, with an update on the work of the local policing team from Oswestry’s new Police Inspector, Rick Klair, and a chance for people to start to find out more about Shropshire Council’s plans to work in new ways through the creation of IP&E (Group) Limited, a council-owned trading company.

Martin Bennett, the chair of Oswestry LJC, said:

‘The current pace of change in the ways in which our local services are structured and delivered is tremendous.  This LJC meeting will discuss the future of our hospital services, our local policing team and Shropshire Council itself.  Those attending will have an opportunity to ask key people about the plans of their organisation and what the changes will mean to local people.”

The Oswestry LJC has an annual budget to benefit and enhance its local community, which voluntary groups and associations can apply to.  The closing date for the next round of funding is Friday 24 August 2012 and application forms and guidance notes can be found at www.shropshireljcs.com/ or by ringing 01743 253077.
