The next meeting of Longden, Ford and Rea Valley Local Joint Committee (LJC) will be held on Wednesday 13 June 2012 at Cruckton Village Hall starting at 7pm.

The committee will be considering applications for funding from several community groups including “Kickz”, which is a new dance class available for young people on Monday evenings at Hanwood Village Hall.

The agenda is packed with interesting items including reports from the local police, information about the Stiperstones and Corndon Hill Country Landscape Partnership scheme from Helen Fairweather, and Gillian Burvill from Shropshire Council will be promoting her new campaign to sign up local ‘street champions’ at various locations in the LJC area over the summer holidays.

In response to highways issues in the area, particularly the removal of a pedestrian crossing planned for Hanwood from the 2012/13 budget, several bridge strikes at Hanwood and routes used by HGV vehicles through the area, Simon Jones, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member responsible for transport, and Ron Buzzacott, Shropshire Council’s highways and transport manager, will attend the meeting to address these issues.

Shropshire Councillor Tudor Bebb said:

“I am really looking forward to welcoming people to this meeting.  I think that it is great to give people an opportunity to ask questions of the people who are making the decisions that affect their lives.”

Shropshire Councillor Roger Evans added:

“This meeting is a good opportunity for local residents from the Hanwood area who wish to hear and maybe ask questions about what is happening about the crossing in Hanwood, plus what can be done to stop over-height lorries blocking our roads.”
