The Severn Loop Local Joint Committee (LJC) holds its next meeting on Wednesday 2 May 2012 at 7pm at The Guildhall in Shrewsbury.

The Severn Loop LJC covers the areas of The Quarry and inside the Severn Loop, Coton Hill, Castle Foregate and St Michael’s Street areas, Porthill, Kingsland and Belle Vue. Shropshire Councillors and Shrewsbury Town Councillors will be in attendance, and encourage people to attend to listen to current topics and raise issues of concern.

Chair of the meeting Councillor Anne Chebsey said:-

“The LJC is a way for local people to raise issues and influence activities in their area.  As a result of the meetings many things have been resolved on behalf of local people, and many local groups have benefited from grants to support their activities.“

Updates will be provided on the issues raised at the last meeting, and the local policing officer will be in attendance.

Funding applications will be considered from:

  • Coton Hill Youth Club, seeking £870 for equipment
  • Belle Vue Community Arts Festival, seeking part funding of £1,500 to support the running of the festival
  • The United Reform Church, seeking part funding of £1,500 to improve disability access, toilets and room access
  • St Michael’s Gate residents, seeking £2,040 to improve the Old Canal footpath with planting, fencing and bins
  • The Shrewsbury Film Society, seeking part funding of £3,434 to update audio visual equipment at The Hive
  • Shrewsbury Town Centre Residents, seeking funding of £2,000 to put on additional live music events at The Quarry bandstand.

There is a great deal happening in Shrewsbury at the moment, so come along to get the latest information and raise local issues with your councillors and officers.
