Shropshire Council’s Family Information Service (FIS) is calling on people to put themselves forward as their Facebook Family of the Month.

Followers of the service on Facebook were asked what they might like to see on the page, and in response it was suggested to feature different photographs of Shropshire families.

People are now invited to email photos of their families to share on the page each month.

Shropshire FIS helps parents and carers make the best use of childcare and children’s services, locally and nationally.  The service provides information and advice on many aspects of family life, including things to do and places to go, healthy eating, staying safe, childcare and support for parents of children with disabilities.

Ann Hartley, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for health and well-being, said:

“Shropshire Family Information Service provides free, impartial information, advice and support.

“We are continually working to expand the ways that parents and carers can find out about, and benefit from, services and facilities available to them, and as part of this launched our Facebook page in December 2010.

“The page has since been ‘liked’ by more than 300 people and we are involving them in how it develops.  We think this is a great idea, and are looking forward to seeing photos from people who already like our Facebook page and new followers.”
