Aston Street and High Street in Wem to be resurfaced

Aston Street and High Street in Wem are to be resurfaced overnight from Monday 2 to Sunday 15 March [2026].

During the work the road will be closed from 6pm to 6am each night, and every effort will be made to keep the noise to a minimum from 11pm.

During the closures a signed diversion will be place – and access for properties and businesses within the closure will be maintained when safe to do so. Depending on their vehicle type, road users may be able to choose an alternative diversion route.

During the work, access to the works area will be restricted to:

• • Residents living within the closure
  • Businesses located within the closure
  • Pedestrians, dismounted cyclists and equestrians
  • Emergency vehicles

People are asked to ensure vehicles are not parked on the road whilst the work is in progress.
