Information for residents following last night’s snow

The below information is correct as of 11am on Friday 9 January.

Gritting

Our gritters have been out this morning treating our A and B roads across the county.

Waste and recycling

Following last night’s snow there will be no recycling or waste collections today (Friday).

If Friday is your normal collection day please bring your bins/boxes/bags back in if you’re able and put them out again on Monday.

Crews will catch up throughout next week, but will prioritise normal collections and then catch up at the end of each day.

Garden waste collections will be suspended until crews have caught up with recycling and rubbish collections. This is in line with our adverse weather protocol.

School closures

If a school has informed us that they’ll be closed they’ll be listed on our website.

In most cases schools will also contact parents and carers direct. If you have any questions please contact your school.

School transport

There is no school transport today(Friday). There is also no SEND school transport, Even if a school is open transport won’t be operating.

Transport to adult day centres is also suspended on Friday.

Passenger transport

Some local bus services may be cancelled or have route restrictions – follow this link for details. We strongly advise all passengers to check the latest updates before travelling, as the situation may change at short notice depending on weather conditions.

Libraries

Oswestry, Bridgnorth, Church Stretton and Shifnal libraries are closed today (Friday) and the mobile library service isn’t operating. Don’t worry if you have books due back – we won’t be charging overdue fees for today.

Shropshire Local

Shropshire Local at Guildhall Shrewsbury, Ludlow Library and the Shifnal Library drop in will be closed today (Friday).

Leisure facilities

Much Wenlock Leisure Centre will not open today (Friday) and a decision will be made later about opening tomorrow. SpArC Bishops Castle will remain closed today.
