The council would like to hear from people who have experience in supported living and day services that aren’t run by the council to understand what is working well and how things could work better.

The surveys focus on externally provided services and not those delivered directly by Shropshire Council.

Find out more here.

Day Opportunities for adults with LD&A includes activities and support offered during the day to help people learn new skills, make friends, be more independent, and take part in their community.

Supported Living enables people to live as independently as possible in their community, with support from staff. This can either involve living by themselves or with other adults who have similar support needs.

We have three surveys to collect as many views as possible:

  1. A survey for individuals and friends/family carers – Day Opportunities and Supported Living

This is intended for people who draw on externally delivered day opportunities and/or supported living, and also the people in their lives such as family and friends.

2. A survey for providers – Day Opportunities

This is for the workforce who deliver externally delivered day opportunities for adults with learning disabilities.

3. Survey for the social care workforce – Day Opportunities

This is intended for social workers and social care practitioners.

Cllr Ruth Houghton, portfolio holder for social care, said:

I would like to encourage all those involved in supporting adults with a learning disability to complete the survey most relevant to them as the views and feedback we receive about support for these adults will be a huge help is shaping the future provision of these services.
