Ukrainian Arts and Craft Fair at Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery this Saturday
Staff from Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery and Shropshire Supports Refugees are showcasing the creative talents of 11 adult and seven young Ukrainian artists and craft artisans at the Ukrainian Arts and Crafts Fair on Saturday 29 March [2025] from 10am to 4pm at Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery.
The Ukrainian Arts and Crafts Fair will feature gifts, works of art and handmade crafts, using a wide range of materials and techniques that have all been designed and made by members of the Ukrainian community who have resettled in Shropshire since the start of the war. There are items at all price points, including water colour, acrylic and oil paintings, prints, cards, handmade soaps and candles.
The fair will be a great opportunity for anyone looking for a unique gift or original piece of Ukrainian art and visitors are advised to bring cash with them, as the stall holders do not have the facility to accept card payments.
The Arts and Craft Fair is being hosted at Shropshire Council’s Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery where visitors will also be able to visit the galleries that celebrate the history of Shropshire, enjoy the new menu in the relaunched café and explore the shop filled with a range of unusual gifts and cards. Admission to Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery and the Arts and Craft Fair is free of charge and donations are welcome.
Fay Bailey from Shropshire Council’s museum and archive service, said:
“Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery has a great reputation as being a safe space where everyone is welcome. We are delighted to be able to work with Shropshire Supports Refugees to bring together artists and crafters from within the local Ukrainian community and share their skills and culture with the rest of the county.”
Amanda Jones from Shropshire Supports Refugees added:
“It’s wonderful to see the work of so many Ukrainian artisans on display at the Museum. We encourage everyone to come along and admire the work on display, make purchases and show their support for the Ukrainian community that now call Shropshire their home.”
The Ukrainian Arts and Crafts Fair has been 100% funded by Homes for Ukraine.
Admission to Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery and the Fair is free of charge.
