Hardwick Forge No 2 Bridge to close for essential maintenance

Hardwick Forge No 2 Bridge – which carries the U8214 unclassified road over the River Rea between Prescott and Stottesdon – will closed for maintenance from 27 November 2024 for three days.

The work involves removal of vegetation from the structure and repairs to the bridge parapet.

To carry out the proposed work safely it will be necessary to close the bridge to vehicular traffic for the duration of the works.

When the bridge is closed, traffic will be diverted via local roads by a signed diversion route.

Access over the bridge for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will remain available throughout the work.

The work will be carried out by Shropshire Council’s term maintenance contractor, Kier with supervision being provided by WSP on behalf of Shropshire Council.
