Council seeks views from those who attend its day opportunities

Shropshire Council is gathering the views from those who attend its day opportunities, along with their families, friends, and staff.

The engagement activity forms part of the council’s ongoing transformation programme, to ensure it continues to deliver quality services that are designed to meet the needs of those who benefit from them.

Shropshire Council’s day opportunities span across eight countywide locations, offering a wide variety of activities such as arts and crafts, quizzes, exercise, gardening, cooking, baking, music, computers, welding, woodwork, and farming. These activities are designed to support and promote independence while enhancing life skills.

The informal survey seeks feedback on individuals’ experiences with day opportunities. It includes questions on, the specific centres attended, the services used, and the frequency of participation.

Councillor Simon Jones, Deputy Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care and Public Health said:

“We are committed to providing high-quality day opportunities that truly benefit the individuals who use them. These surveys are a crucial step in understanding the needs and preferences of those who use day services and ensuring that we continue to meet those needs effectively.

“I urge everyone involved to participate and share their valuable insights.”

The survey will be open until December 15, 2024. There are separate surveys tailored for each group, so participants should ensure they complete the relevant survey.

We look forward to the community’s input, which will play a vital role in shaping the future of our day opportunities.

The feedback gathered from the survey will help the council understand what the day opportunities mean to the participants and what improvements they would like to see in the future.
