Carers invited to a series of events to mark National Carers Rights Day 2024
Carers across Shropshire are being invited to a series of information events to mark National Carers Rights Day 2024 (Thursday 21 November)
The events organised by Shropshire Council’s Carers Support Team is aimed at raising awareness of carers’ rights as well as providing valuable support and information.
Carers Rights Day is an essential initiative to ensure unpaid carers are informed of their rights and the assistance available to them. During the week Shropshire’s Carers Support service will be available to offer advice and guidance to those who provides unpaid care for another person (of any age) who are unable to manage without their care and support.
Events include:
- Wednesday, 20th November, 1:00pm – 4:00pm – Market Drayton Medical Practice, Maer Lane, Market Drayton, TF9 3A – Shropshire Carers Support Team will be hosting an information stall to discuss carers’ rights and available support.
- Thursday, 21st November, 9:30am – 12:00 pm – Plas Ffynnon Medical Centre, Middleton Road, Oswestry, SY11 2RB – Shropshire Carers Support Team is holding an information stall to talk to unpaid carers about their rights and what is available to support them.
- Thursday 21 November – 1:00pm – 3:30 pm – Oswestry Library, Arthur Street, Oswestry, Shropshire, SY11 1JN – Speakers will discuss various support services including Social Prescribing, Marches Energy Action, and Age UK. Attendees can meet the Shropshire Carer Support Team and enjoy refreshments.
- Thursday 21 November – 10:00am – 3:00pm – Age UK Shrewsbury, 4 Bellstone, Shrewsbury, Shropshire SY1 1QQ (under the Market Hall) – Shropshire Carers Support Team is holding an information stall to talk to unpaid carers about their rights and what is available to support them.
- Friday, 22nd November – 10:00am – 3:00pm – Bridgnorth Rugby Club, Edgar Davies Ground, Bandon Lane, Bridgnorth, WV15 5AD – A Dementia Information Day, featuring stalls from various organisations providing information and advice for those affected by dementia in Shropshire. Visitors are invited to enjoy a cup of tea and cake.

Mobilise Shropshire
Mobilise Shropshire, an online carer support service, is working with Shropshire Carers Support service to provide a range of free online services to support carers, in addition to what is already on offer in Shropshire.
