New street lighting columns in Hinstock as part of A529 Safer Roads Fund work
Work to install new street lighting columns in Hinstock has begun this week.
It’s being carried out as part of the Government-funded A529 Safer Roads Fund scheme to improve safety between Hinstock and Audlem, which began in October 2019 and has involved various safety improvement measures at key locations.
The street lighting upgrade is set to be completed in late October 2024 along with two phases of road maintenance and footway work to connect Moat House Gardens with Damson Way – which will be carried out in the October half-term holiday.
Other work being carried out in Hinstock under the Safer Roads scheme includes road safety measures, traffic calming, CIL-funded proposals to improve pedestrian safety at the Zebra crossing, and measures influenced by Shropshire Council’s study of 20mph zones outside schools.
All of these proposals were shared with the public in a consultation exercise undertaken in August/September 2022.
The work is being carried out by Shropshire Council’s contractor Kier and by National Grid, with additional input from Shropshire’s signals contractor, Swarco.
All work in the village – including new signing – is due to be completed in the school Easter holidays in April 2025.
