Enable, a leading provider of supported employment services in Shropshire and Telford, is marking its 30th anniversary this September with a series of events at the Darwin Shopping Centre in Shrewsbury.

The free events will run from 10am to 5pm and are open to businesses and those who wish to find out more on what support is on offer to access training and employment opportunities. Events include:

  • Monday 2nd September – Reverse Jobs Fair – businesses can meet Enable’s clients who are ready and eager to work and find the right person for your vacancy.
  • Saturday 14th September – Training Provider Roadshow – find out about local training options for yourself or your business and how Enable can help you access them.
  • Wednesday 25th September – Employers Jobs Fair – chat with local employers and charities and get advice and opportunities for different sectors and roles.

Enable’s team of employability experts will also be available to answer any questions and provide information and guidance on employment issues.

Shropshire Council’s Enable Supported Employment service has been helping people with disabilities and mental health needs to find and keep meaningful jobs since 1994. The organisation has grown and diversified over the years, offering a range of services such as bespoke training, jobs fairs, and innovative programmes funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF).

Enable’s mission is to empower more people to achieve their employment goals and to share its expertise with the public and the sector. As part of the celebrations, the team has planned three days of activities at the Darwin Shopping Centre, where they will showcase their services, achievements, and partnerships.

Enable’s 30th anniversary events are proudly sponsored by Freedom Fibre, a company that brings high-speed fibre broadband to residents and businesses across North Shropshire.

Councillor Cecilia Motley, Cabinet Member for adult social care and public health, said:

“Our Enable Supported Employment service is greatly valued by both individuals needing help to gain training and employment, and employers throughout Shropshire.

“I would like to extend my congratulations to them on their 30 years of service.

“Enable have made a positive difference to the lives of many people in our county and beyond, and we wish them continued success in assisting more people to secure employment.”

Sarah Harley, Enable’s Business Development Officer, added:

“We are very proud of what we have accomplished in the past 30 years and we are excited to share it with the community. We invite everyone to join us at the Darwin Shopping Centre and learn more about how we can support them or their business with employment-related matters.”
