Changes to some bus services this summer
Some changes are to be made this summer to a small number of bus services operating on the Shropshire Council area.
Service 540 (Shrewsbury Bus Station to Cardington)
After a competitive tendering process, the above service will be operated by Minsterley Motors from Saturday 3 August 2024. The service was previously operated by Lakeside Coaches. All current timetables will remain in place.
Service 54 (Oswestry to Cefn-y-Blodwel)
From September 2024, the above service operated by Tanat Valley Coaches will operate 10 minutes later from Oswestry Bus Station at 3.10pm. Collection for students from The Marches School will be at 3.22pm.
Service 521 (Shrewsbury Bus Station to Newport)
This service will be withdrawn after operation on Friday 19 July 2024. Pupils wishing to travel to Haberdashers’ Adams Grammar School or Newport Girls High School should contact their respective school office for alternative arrangements.
Service 524 (Rodington to Shrewsbury)
This Shropshire Council-supported service will be withdrawn after operation on Friday 2 August 2024. The decision has been taken not to continue operating this service after this date due to low patronage and majority of passengers able to access Arriva route 24 between Sundorne and Shrewsbury.
Harlescott Park & Ride to Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings
From Saturday 3 August 2024, Harlescott Park & Ride will no longer pick up or set down customers at Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings. Customers travelling by bus can continue to park their vehicle for free at Harlescott Park & Ride and catch Arriva routes 24 and 25, which operate up to every fifteen minutes throughout the day on Mondays to Saturdays. Buses for Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings will pick up at the route 24 and 25 bus shelter at the rear of Tesco. Customers should disembark at the bus stop located at Spring Gardens Junction on Sultan Road and, for their journey back to Harlescott, should pick the bus back up at the bus layby outside Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings on Spring Gardens.
