Shropshire Council is proud to support Retrofit Action Week West Midlands, a week-long campaign to raise awareness and inspire action on home energy efficiency across the region.

The council has been at the forefront of delivering retrofit projects in the county, helping residents to live in homes that are more comfortable, cheaper to run and better for the environment.

  • Launching the Sustainable Affordable Warmth Strategy, a vision and action plan to tackle fuel poverty and carbon emissions from domestic buildings.
  • Establishing a dedicated affordable warmth and energy efficiency team to drive forward retrofit work across the county.
  • Leading a £6.5m Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund Wave 1 programme in partnership with five regional housing associations, delivering deep retrofit to 246 social housing properties.
  • Securing over £11m in Government funding under the Home Upgrade Grant Scheme, delivering meaningful energy efficiency improvements to homeowners and private tenants in rural and off-gas homes.
