Find out more about foster care at Shropshire Fostering drop-in event

People wanting to find out more about fostering are invited to come along to Shropshire Fostering’s info point on Thursday 21 December 2023 at the Shropshire Local hub (opposite M&S on the upper floor) in The Darwin centre, Shrewsbury (town centre shopping centre).

The info point will be available from 10am to 4pm and there is no need to book.

Residents living in or visiting Shrewsbury on the day can come and speak to the Shropshire Fostering team face-to-face about any questions they may have.

Kirstie Hurst-Knight, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for children and education, said:-

“Every child in Shropshire deserves a loving home and fostering, for many children, can be their first positive experience of family life.

“Fostering is a really rewarding role which makes a massive difference to vulnerable children and young people. It literally changes lives.

“Our foster carers do an incredible job of providing them with the stability and confidence they need. By committing their time and their love, carers give children – and often whole families – the time and the space to rebuild their lives.

“So, if you’re interested in becoming a foster carer, come and join the team for a discussion at our Fostering info point.

“You can come along by yourself or with a partner. If you are feeling indecisive about fostering or you’re not sure where to start your journey, this discussion is your perfect opportunity to find out more information. If you want to go ahead with the fostering process, there will be an advisor on hand to help you fill out the form if you so wish to do so.

“There will be several Fostering info points taking place at Shropshire Local over the next few months. You can find out more by following Shropshire Fostering’s Facebook page to keep up to date on our upcoming events.”

New foster care video

Shropshire Fostering have also launched a new video to highlight the great work Shropshire foster carers do across the county with the aim to find new carers.

The recruitment video reaches out to anyone who wants to give a local child a loving, safe and nurturing home, and is looking to attract a diverse range of carers.
