Over 165 delegates have booked to attend the Business Leaders Breakfast this year.

The Business Leaders Breakfast is the major economic growth event run each year by the Invest in Shropshire team at Shropshire Council.

This year it is on Tuesday 17 October 2023 at The Shrewsbury Club, and is promised to be one of the key business events taking place during the week of the ITF World Tennis Tour W100 in Shrewsbury.

The morning will bring businesses up-to-date on major plans and funding activity, and will introduce some of the leading projects funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund set to benefit communities and businesses across Shropshire.

The morning’s presentations will also take a glimpse into the future. Firstly, with a look at the shape of the county in 2050 and the bold and ambitious approach Shropshire Council is taking. Secondly, Paul McGillivray, Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer at Shrewsbury-based company Remote, will look at the paradigm shift AI could bring about both in the workplace and our daily lives. The morning will conclude with a Q&A session.

Mark Jones, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for growth and regeneration, said:-

“This event is now established as a key event for Shropshire businesses. The council sees it as a major vehicle to provide on update on the extensive work that is going on across the county to build a healthy economy, both now and for Shropshire’s future.

“Our look into the future involves scenario planning to make sure we are prepared for both challenges and opportunities. With our partners we are looking at major areas like transport, Shropshire’s population, employment, housing, and the environment. All of these areas are under scrutiny.”

Dave Courteen of The Shrewsbury Club said:-

“Hosting the ITF World Tennis tour for the second year running has been a tremendous coup for the club and Shrewsbury. It is fitting that a business event that highlights the terrific work that is going on in the county should be showcased at an event that is beginning to attract the eyes of the world.”

The event is close to capacity currently, but Invest in Shropshire have advised that recordings and slides for the presentations will be made available on the Invest in Shropshire website later next week on https://www.investinshropshire.co.uk/events/
