Notice of election published for possible Alveley and Claverley by-election

The notice of election has been published today for a by-election to elect a councillor for Shropshire Council’s Alveley and Claverley division.

If the by-election is contested it will be held on Thursday 19 October [2023].

Whether there is a contest will be known after 4pm on Friday 22 September . This is the end of the nomination period, and the deadline for candidates to withdraw.

The key dates are as follows:

Nomination packs – are available from the Returning Officer at Shirehall in Shrewsbury from Thursday 14 September.

Close of nomination period: 4pm on Friday 22 September.

Last date to register to vote: Tuesday 3 October. See here.

Postal vote applications deadline: 5pm on Wednesday 4 October. See here.

Proxy vote application deadline: 5pm on Wednesday 11 October. See here.

Voter Authority Certificate application deadline: 5pm on Wednesday 11 October. See here.

Polling day: Thursday 19 October (7am to 10pm).
