Shrewsbury Road in Bomere Heath to be resurfaced once water pipes are replaced
Shrewsbury Road in Bomere Heath is set to be resurfaced this November – once Severn Trent has completed work to replace customer-owned lead pipes in the area.
The resurfacing work was due to take place earlier this year, but was postponed to enable Severn Trent’s work – which involves digging up the road – to be carried out first.
The Shrewsbury Road resurfacing work is scheduled to be carried out in November and last a week.
Work to resurface nearby Forton Bank in Montford Bridge has also been put back due to the Severn Trent work – and is now due to be carried out early next year.

Severn Trent say that customer-owned pipes are responsible for between half and one-third of all leaks – and their work will reduce the number of leaks and save customers money.
Lezley Picton, Shropshire Councillor for Tern, and Leader of Shropshire Council, said:
“This is really good news for local residents. Firstly, Shrewsbury Road in Bomere Heath is to be resurfaced as part of the council’s resurfacing programme for this year, which will make a real difference for all who use the road. Secondly, people will get new, better, and more environmentally-friendly water supply pipes, which will see fewer leaks and save people money.
“I look forward to both pieces of work being completed.”
Liv Garfield, Severn Trent chief executive, said:
“We’re replacing customer owned lead pipes in Bomere Heath, meaning less chemical treatment to our water, more resilience to our network and benefits for our communities and environment.
“Customer-owned supply pipes are a hidden liability for many of our customers. By looking beyond the boundary of our assets and taking care of these pipes, we can eliminate the health risks associated with lead pipes and secure affordable solutions for our customers.”
Throughout the supply pipe replacement project Severn Trent are offering green incentives by working with local projects and the community to help provide a more sustainable and greener future to the local area.
