The work will involve undertaking vegetation clearance, taking down 1.5m.sq area of upstream wingwall, erecting a gabion basket retaining wall to the upstream left corner, providing rock armour to the downstream right embankment, and painting of approach rails to all corners of the bridge.
Due to the nature of the works and excavation that are required, the road closure will need to remain in place for 24 hours a day, seven days a week. A signed diversion route will be provided to ensure that safe access around the closure is maintained.
Access over the bridge for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will remain available throughout the work.
There is likely to be some disruption during the work, and every effort will be made to minimise inconvenience.
The work will be carried out by Shropshire Council’s term maintenance contractor Kier, with supervision being provided by WSP on behalf of Shropshire Council.
