Cost of living: Have you checked your Pension Credit entitlement?
There is just over a week left to make a claim for Pension Credit and still receive an additional £301 cost-of-living payment, to help with the rising costs of energy and everyday essentials.
Pension Credit gives you extra money to help with your living costs if you’re over State Pension age and if you have a low income. Pension Credit can also help with housing costs such as ground rent or service charges.
If you complete your claim by Friday 19 May 2023, you may also receive an additional £301 cost of living payment from the Government.
You might still be able to receive Pension Credit if you have modest savings, a retirement income or own your own home.
In the financial year 2021/22, it was estimated that Shropshire residents were missing out on an estimated £7,984,287 in unclaimed Pension Credit (1) which could help support many pensioners who are struggling with the cost of living rises.
It is easy to check whether you or somebody you know is eligible to receive Pension Credit, and what other support this could help you to get.
