Latest flooding information: UPDATE Saturday 14 January 9am
The Met Office yellow warning for rainfall across the region will remain in place until midday today (Saturday 14 January 2023).
Flood barriers are in place in Frankwell, Shrewsbury, and will remain until further notice, and flood defences at Coleham Head were installed yesterday.
The River Severn in Shrewsbury is now falling slightly, but will remain high today. We are expecting a secondary peak tomorrow night (Sunday 15 January) into Monday following the rain last night. We will keep you updated as soon as we have more details about this.
Bridgnorth is expected to peak at between 4.5m and 5.0m this evening or overnight.
At 8am today there were 10 Flood Warnings and five Flood Alerts in Shropshire, instructing those living near these areas to take action or be prepared for flooding.
River Severn at Bridgnorth, River Severn at Frankwell, Shrewsbury, River Severn at Hampton Loade and Highley, River Severn at Pentre, River Severn at Quatford, River Severn at Shrawardine, Montford Bridge and Mytton, River Severn at Shrewsbury, River Severn at the Showground and The Quarry, Shrewsbury, River Vyrnwy at Maesbrook and the River Vyrnwy at Melverley.
Flood alerts are in place for Lower Teme, River Severn in Shropshire, Severn Vyrnwy confluence, Tern and Perry catchments and Upper Teme.
People are reminded not to enter floodwaters. Do not drive into floodwaters. Not only is it a risk to life for drivers but abandoning vehicles in floods risk blocking emergency access routes.
Bridgnorth and surrounding areas
The river level is rising steadily and expected to peak between 4.5m and 5.0m this evening or overnight (Saturday 14 January).
Community outreach teams will visited yesterday to offer support and check that those who may be affected are prepared.

Any displaced resident permit holders holding a valid permit may park on Innage Lane Car Park or Severn Street Car Park.
Llanymynech and surrounding areas
A Flood Warning is in place for the River Vyrnwy at Maesbrook and Melverley.
Ludlow
Flood alerts are in place for both the Upper and Lower Teme catchments.
Shrewsbury
Flood warnings are in place for the River Severn at Frankwell, the West Mid Showground and The Quarry in Shrewsbury.

Bus station
Shrewsbury bus station is closed. Temporary bus terminals are set up at:
- New Park Road below Beacall’s Lane (Harlescott Park and Ride drop off and pick up)
- Abbey Foregate car park – coach bays and half of the lower section of the car park (Meole Brace Park and Ride drop off and pick up, and for some services Abbey Foregate by the Abbey)
- Theatre Severn and Oxon Park and Ride on Frankwell Island, (Oxon Park and Ride drop off and pick up on Frankwell Island)
Car park closures
If you are thinking of driving into the town centre, please use the Park & Ride services instead.
- Frankwell Riverside Car Park – closed due to occupation by our partner the Environment Agency.
- Frankwell Main Car Park – closed until further notice.
- St Julian’s Friar’s Car Park – closed until further notice. St Julian’s Friar’s Resident Permit Holders can use Abbey Foregate Car Park and are asked to park ideally on the top tier.
- Raven Meadows Multi-Storey Car Park open for daytime parking, but Raven Meadows has a two way flow for access to the MSCP and The Strand. Access is from Meadow Place.
- Abbey Foregate is open, but with reduced spaces.
