Latest flooding information – UPDATE Friday 13 January 8.45am
There are currently no weather warnings for rainfall in place, but the forecast is for a further unsettled run and we are still awaiting peaks from the rain that fell in our catchment area on Wednesday night (12 January) and Thursday morning (13 January).
Flood barriers are in place in Frankwell, Shrewsbury, and will remain until further notice.
The River Severn continues to rise in Shrewsbury and is predicted to peak at between 4.2m and 4.7m on Friday night into early Saturday morning (14 January 2023).
Upstream, levels are rising, and the gauges are being monitored.
At 8am today there were 11 Flood Warnings and six Flood Alerts which have been issued by the Environment Agency, instructing those living near the county’s watercourses to take action or be prepared for flooding.
River Severn at Bridgnorth, River Severn at Frankwell, Shrewsbury, River Severn at Hampton Loade and Highley, River Severn at Pentre, River Severn at Quatford, River Severn at Shrawardine, Montford Bridge and Mytton, River Severn at Shrewsbury, River Severn at the Showground and The Quarry, Shrewsbury, River Teme at Stanford Bridge, River Vyrnwy at Maesbrook and the River Vyrnwy at Melverley.
Flood alerts are in place for Lower Teme, Rea Brook and Cound Brook, River Severn in Shropshire, Severn Vyrnwy confluence, Tern and Perry catchments and Upper Teme.
People are reminded not to enter floodwaters. Do not drive into floodwaters. Not only is it a risk to life for drivers but abandoning vehicles in floods risk blocking emergency access routes.
Bridgnorth and surrounding areas
The river level is rising steadily and expected to peak between 4.5m and 5m Saturday evening/night (14 January).
Community outreach teams will visit to offer support and check that those who may be affected are prepared.
Roads
None currently.

- Severnside South Road and The Boat Yard
- Doctors Lane
- Severn Terrace
- Quayside
- Riverside and Friars Street
Footpath closures
Footpath from Bylet to Wellmeadow
Car park closures
Currently no closures. However, any displaced resident permit holders holding a valid permit may park on Innage Lane Car Park or Severn Street Car Park in preparation for closures.
Llanymynech and surrounding areas
A Flood Warning is in place for the River Vyrnwy at Maesbrook and Melverley.
Ludlow
Flood alerts are in place for both the Upper and Lower Teme catchments.
Ludlow area buses
738/740 Ludlow to Knighton service operated by Minsterley Motors is unable to operate fully today (Friday 13 January) due to the flooding in the area.
The service is currently only able to operate from Ludlow as far as Leintwardine, with the Leintwardine to Knighton section cancelled.
Shrewsbury
Flood warnings are in place for the River Severn at Frankwell, the West Mid Showground and The Quarry in Shrewsbury.

- Coleham Head Lane – closure into town centre from 5am to 9am
- Raven Meadows at the Roushill side from 5am to 9am
- Cressage to Eaton Constantine from 5am to 9am

- Williams Way
- Raven Meadows at the Roushill side
- Roushill
- Cressage to Eaton Constantine
The bus station and Raven Meadows Multi-Storey Car Park will be open, but Raven Meadows will have two way flow for access to the MSCP and The Strand and exit.
Footpath closures
- Towpath closed from Greyfriars Bridge to The Weir
- Towpath closed from The Pig trough to West Mid Showground
- Towpath closed from New Street to The Stew/Frankwell Riverside Car Park.
Bus station
Shrewsbury bus station remains open.
Car parks
If you are thinking of driving into the town centre, please use the Park & Ride Services instead.
- Frankwell Riverside Car Park – closed due to occupation by our partner the Environment Agency.
- Frankwell Main Car Park – closed until further notice.
- St Julian’s Friar’s Car Park – closed until further notice. St Julian’s Friar’s Resident Permit Holders can use Abbey Foregate Car Park and are asked to park ideally on the top tier.
