Trail runners invited to sign up for Severn Valley Country Park anniversary event
Trail runners are being encouraged to join Severn Valley Country Park’s 30th anniversary celebrations and sign up for the park’s trail run in September.
There are two races, a 5km route starting at 10am and a 10km run, beginning at 11.30am.
The Shropshire Council-run park is hosting the event on Sunday 18 September and all runners taking part this year will receive a special 30th anniversary commemorative medal.
Cecilia Motley, Shropshire Council Cabinet member for culture, leisure and tourism, said:
“The Severn Valley Trail Run is one of the most picturesque and interesting off-road runs in the midlands. The route will take you through woodlands, meadows and along the banks of the River Severn and will allow access to riverside meadows normally closed to the public. It really is a very special event for trail runners to enjoy.
“People can sign up now and ensure they have a place in marking Severn Valley Country Park’s 30th anniversary – it is an excellent venue for trail running and for people to enjoy exploring the countryside at a more leisurely pace!”
The entry fee for the 5km race is £10 and the 10km race charge is £16 and include chip timing, water and snacks, full first aid cover, as well as prizes for the winners in different age categories and the anniversary medal.
