Museums offer inspiration for some Jubilee-themed holiday fun
Anyone looking for Platinum Jubilee-themed holiday fun need look no further than Shropshire Council’s venues this week.
There is something for everyone looking to enjoy entertainment with a Jubilee theme at the county’s museums and art galleries this week.
Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery – Maximo Mouse’s Jubilee Museum Trail – Find the missing Jubilee Treasures
Saturday 28 May 2022 – Sunday 5 June, 10am – 5pm
A fun ‘scavenger hunt’ children’s activity, with a trail card which can be purchased from the museum shop, leading children around the museum to ‘Find the missing Treasures’. Each treasure has a different numbered letter next to it, once you have found them all, spell out the special word, then return the card to the shop to claim your small prize. On the reverse of the card is a Cake Decorating Competition which can be returned to Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery before the entry deadline of 4pm Saturday 11 June for a chance to win a cuddly corgi.
Cost: £2 per child – please pay at the Museum Shop on arrival.

Shrewsbury Castle grounds – Corgi Trail
Saturday 28 May – Sunday 5 June (Closed Thursday 2 June)

Each has a different coloured collar, once they have all been found, return the card to the Castle for a small prize. Shropshire Archives – Royal visits to Shropshire exhibition
Wednesday 25 May – Sunday 5 June, 10am to 5pm
A celebratory slideshow will run in Shropshire Archives’ reception to mark the Jubilee, showing a selection of photographs and memorabilia from Royal visits to Shropshire as well as Jubilee celebrations over the years. Samples of original documents will be on display in the exhibition case in the public area. The exhibition is free.

Pop in for a free children’s activity with materials supplied for making red, white, blue and gold paper crowns inside the Museum. The activity is free, but donations are welcomed.

A special half term Lego® workshop with Bricks ‘N Tricks, and create a Jubilee Street Party to celebrate. Morning or afternoon session. Entry £10 per child.
Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery – Films on the Balcony – Snow White

A showing put on especially for families with young children. Beanbags and cushions will be available for a relaxed film screening but please feel free to bring your own along too. Refreshments will be available to purchase before the film. Entry £4 per child.
Acton Scott Historic Working Farm – Jubilee Bunting Jewellery Workshop (for adults)
Saturday 28 May, 10am to 12.30pm
This half day workshop will give you the skills to make your own necklace to wear for the Jubilee or any other special occasion. You will learn beading techniques including ladder stitch and brick stitch and how to assemble your necklace with chain and findings. Fee £25 per person, or £40 a pair.
