Planning Inspectors appointed for Local Plan examination

Two planning inspectors have been appointed to examine the latest Shropshire Local Plan submission.

The Secretary of State has appointed Louise Crosby MA MRTPI and Carole Dillon BA(Hons) MRTPI to carry out an independent examination of the draft Shropshire Local Plan (2016 – 2038).

On 3 September 2021, the Council submitted the draft Shropshire Local Plan (2016 – to the Secretary of State for examination under Section 20 of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 (as amended) and in accordance with Regulation 22 of the Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012 (as amended).

The purpose of this examination is to assess whether the draft Shropshire Local Plan (2016 – 2038) meets the tests of soundness defined in the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) (explained in Paragraphs 35-36 of the NPPF) and meets all the relevant legislative requirements, including the duty to co-operate.

Shropshire Council has appointed Julie Ruler as the Programme Officer for the examination of the draft Shropshire Local Plan (2016 – 2038), to assist with its organisation and administration. The Programme Officer can be contacted by emailing: Programme.Officer@Shropshire.gov.uk
