Shropshire businesses are planning to thrive in 2021 – and beyond
Invest in Shropshire is delighted that Mark Gregory, Ernst Young’s leading chief economist in the UK and Ireland, will be the keynote speaker at this year’s online Business Leaders Breakfast event on Wednesday 5 May 2021.
Following a year of major challenges for Shropshire’s business community, this year’s event – which was cancelled last year due to the pandemic – has moved online.
It has a range of speakers lined up to both celebrate the resilience and strength of Shropshire’s economy, but also to launch the council’s extensive programme of economic recovery and growth support over the next 12 months.
Mark Gregory – an adviser to governments and industry on economics, policy and regulation – will be joined on the morning by Mark Barrow, Shropshire Council’s executive director of place, Tracy Darke, the council’s recently-appointed assistant director of economic growth, and Shropshire Council’s chief executive Andy Begley.
Also joining the line-up is Shrewsbury Town’s Chief Executive Brian Caldwell and David Baker, Chief Executive of Radius Aerospace. Both speakers will talk about the journey and challenges their respective businesses have undergone throughout the pandemic.
The event will be live-streamed on Wednesday 5 May from 8am-10am, and will be introduced by well-known broadcaster and journalist Carl Jones.
Mark Barrow said:-
“It’s been a very tough year for all businesses in Shropshire. After successfully delivering £145m of grants over the last 12 months in Shropshire. we are now pleased to announce a major programme to support recovery and enable our Shropshire businesses to thrive once again.
It was also vital to reinstate this popular event, which each year seeks to outline our current economic strategy and plans. By going online it will enable us to reach even more local businesses who may not have been able to attend in person.”
