Rea Bridge near Brockton: repair work from Monday 30 November
Rea Bridge will be closed for up to a week from Monday 30 November 2020 to carry out bridge parapet repairs on both sides of the bridge, together with vegetation removal and general repointing of the structure.
The bridge carries the B4499 over the Rea Brook near Brockton.
While the road is closed, traffic will be diverted by a signed diversion via the B4386, Nox to Lea Cross road, A488 and B4499 and vice versa.
Access over the bridge for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will remain available throughout the works, and access to frontages will be maintained up to the bridge closure.
The work will be undertaken by the council’s term maintenance contractor Kier, with supervision by the council’s term consultant WSP.
Steve Davenport, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for highways and transport, said:-
“It is appreciated that this bridge closure will cause some inconvenience, and everyone involved will do all that they reasonably can to reopen it as soon as possible.”
Heather Kidd, local Shropshire Councillor for Chirbury and Worthen, said:-
“I am really pleased that this work will also include the recent damage to the bridge and so prevent another closure. School buses will be given access, which is greatly appreciated by the bus drivers and the schools concerned.”
