Totterton Bank Bridge will be closed from this Monday (27 April 2020) until Thursday 7 May 2020 to enable repairs to be undertaken.

The repair works will involve repairs to the invert of the bridge following scour damage.

The bridge carries Totterton Lane over a tributary of the River Kemp to the east of Totterton, near Lydbury North.

Road ahead closed

Due to the nature of the repair works a full road closure and diversion route will be in place for the duration of the works.

When the bridge is closed, traffic will be diverted via Five Turnings and Eyton. Access over the bridge for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will remain available throughout the proposed work.

Steve Davenport, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for highways and transport, said:-

“It is appreciated that the bridge closure will cause some inconvenience, and everyone involved will do all that they reasonably can to reopen it as soon as possible.”

Ruth Houghton, local Shropshire Councillor for Bishop’s Castle, said:-

“It is important that the work is completed on this bridge to ensure that the structure is safe and secure. Hopefully the work will be completed on time and the disruption and inconvenience will be for as short a time as possible.”
