Planning application submitted for new housing at Frith Close, Monkmoor, Shrewsbury
Shropshire Council’s housing company Cornovii Developments Limited has submitted its first planning application to build new homes, on the former care home site at Frith Close, Monkmoor, Shrewsbury.
The former care home site will be transformed to accommodate 31 houses and 2 bungalows, a mixture of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom houses, and 1 and 2 bedroom bungalows.
21 homes will be sold on the open market and 12 new affordable homes will be delivered, which will be a mix of affordable rent, and shared ownership properties. Work is expected to start onsite later this year, with the first homes ready in summer 2021.
Robert Macey, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for housing and strategic planning, said:-
“This is great news for Cornovii Developments Limited as it pushes forward the first phase of its building programme. The designs that have been created will provide top- quality sustainable homes for the county, and deliver homes that the community can be proud of.
“Cornovii Developments Limited has plans to start on site and support the construction of over 1,000 new homes by 2025. This will support the overall housebuilding programme in Shropshire, and will support local contractors during a difficult time for the industry.”
