Yesterday afternoon (Wednesday 24 October 2018) police were informed old artillery shells had been found on a building site in Park Hall in Oswestry.

The Army has been informed and Explosives Ordnance Disposal (EOD), police, fire and the local authority are working together to ensure the shells are disposed of safely and this morning a controlled explosion will be carried out.

A 100-metre cordon is currently in place as a precaution.

People in the area may hear a small bang as the explosion takes place.

Officers will be in the area to offer reassurance.
