Help name Shropshire’s gritters – voting now open!
Forty-eight names have been shortlisted in a competition to find names for Shropshire’s gritters.

At the start of October we asked people to suggest names for the 25 vehicles in the Shropshire Highways fleet. We had a brilliant response, with more than 500 suggestions made.
One of the gritters has been named after four-year-old Broseley boy Zac Oliver, leaving 24 names still to be chosen.
Our ‘panel of experts’ have considered all of the suggested names and have drawn up a shortlist of the 48 best or most popular names. And yes, Gritty McGritface is on the list!
Now people can vote their favourites to help decide the final 24 names.

The 48 names have been randomly placed into six groups of eight names. We simply want you to vote for up to four in each group.
The four most popular names in each group – 24 names in total – will then be given to our gritters before they hit the roads this winter.
Voting ends at 9am on Friday 26 October, with the winning names announced later that day.
So, it’s over to you!
