Local Age UK charity seeks volunteer receptionists in Shrewsbury

Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin is looking to recruit volunteers to help the reception team in Mardol Gardens, Shrewsbury.
The local charity is looking for volunteers to help out in a busy reception on Monday and Tuesday afternoons. The role involves handling telephone calls, directing enquiries and carrying out general reception duties.
Volunteers are encouraged to come forward if they can spare three or four hours once a week, have customer service experience, are computer literate and have a friendly manner.
Hazel Hignett, Office Administrator of Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin, said:
“We have a wonderful team of volunteers helping on reception, but we are looking for more support during Monday and Tuesday afternoons. It is a very rewarding role as very often we are the first point of contact for many older people and their families seeking information and advice.”
Full training and ongoing support will be provided and expenses reimbursed.

Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin offers a range of services for older people in the county. Last year over 100,000 volunteer hours were given to support older people, ranging from helping people to fill in benefits forms, supporting people in our 40 day centres, visiting isolated older people at home, to acting as receptionists in our Shrewsbury office.
As part of our ‘No one should have no one’ campaign, we are raising money and recruiting volunteers to increase services such as befriending and social activities that reduce isolation and loneliness among older people in Shropshire.
