Adult safeguarding website to help protect residents who need care and support

Related topics: Adult social care / Health / Partner organisations

A website, dedicated to helping people access information about safeguarding adults, is being promoted this week (week beginning Monday 4 June 2018).

The Keeping Adults Safe in Shropshire website has been developed by Keeping Adults Safe in Shropshire Board (KASiSB). The board is comprised of several agencies who work together to prevent abuse, or respond quickly when someone is at risk of abuse or neglect.

The website provides a one stop shop for information for families and professionals about safeguarding in Shropshire, bringing together information and guidance for adults and their families, and the professionals who work with them. The website also features information about how to recognise abuse and neglect in adults and how to report concerns to the relevant authorities.

In addition to this, the website outlines how the board works and how agencies work together to ensure that adults are able to live in safety and free from abuse and neglect.

Ivan Powell, Independent Chair of the Board, said:

“KASiSB is absolutely committed to ensuring the safety of adults at risk of abuse and neglect, or those experiencing these, remains at the heart of everything we do.

“The website is just one of the ways the board provides information to adults in this group or to people who suspect someone may be a victim of abuse or neglect. Act quickly before the abuse gets worse: it’s better to get help and talk to someone sooner rather than later.”

Lee Chapman, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for adult services, health and social housing, added:-

“As a partnership we have an important role to play in protecting an adult’s right to live safely, free from abuse and neglect. We must all act to prevent or stop abuse to adults, particularly those who need extra help and support. The website has been designed to help people recognise what abuse is and how they can get help for themselves, or others.”
