The works of Nobel Prize Laureate, Kazuo Ishiguro OBE, will be in the spotlight at a free University Centre Shrewsbury (UCS) event this month.

Dr Giulia Miller will host the session on Saturday 17 February 2018, from 1.30pm until 3.30pm, at the University Centre’s learning and research base at Guildhall.

She said:

“Ishiguro won the 2017 Nobel Prize for Literature, and is best known for novels, The Remains of the Day and Never Let Me Go, which have been adapted into highly acclaimed films.

“Join us to discuss the works of this writer, described by the Swedish Academy as one ‘who, in novels of great emotional force, has uncovered the abyss beneath our illusory sense of connection with the world’.”

Dr Miller is a Visiting Lecturer in English Literature and Film at UCS.

Admission to the event is free, but booking is essential. To reserve a place go to https://nobelprizeroundtable.eventbrite.co.uk or www.ucshrewsbury.ac.uk/public-events.

Alternatively, people can visit the reception at Guildhall in Frankwell Quay (SY3 8HQ) which is open from 9am to 5pm Monday to Thursday and from 9am to 4pm on Fridays, or call 01743 297185.

The talk is part of a series of events at UCS covering a range of subjects. Many of the events are free, and they are open to everyone. For further details go to www.ucshrewsbury.ac.uk/public-events.
