Would you like to help improve your maternity services?
News from our partners NHS Shropshire Clinical Commissioning Group
Women and families across Shropshire who have recently used maternity services are invited to join us, share their views and experience, and help us co-produce Local Maternity Services by forming a Maternity Voices Partnership, which will consist of a team of women, commissioners and providers (midwives and doctors) who will work together to review and contribute to the development of local maternity care.
Shropshire Maternity Voices will hold its first meeting on Monday 26 February 2018, from 11am to 1pm at Shrewsbury Town Football Club.
Monday’s meeting is a chance for those who are passionate about local maternity services to hear more about Maternity Voices Partnership and how they can help improve maternity services in line with our local vision:
- Have better information about pregnancy and parenthood that is personal to their circumstances
- Have support with their emotional wellbeing throughout their pregnancy and after their baby is born
- Have more choice in the care they receive and will feel involved in decisions about their care
- Be able to access a wider range of services closer to home
- Be involved in how services are designed and delivered
The views of the Maternity Voices Partnership will inform the work of the Shropshire Local Maternity System (LMS) Plan. The LMS aims to ensure that midwives and the broader workforce involved in supporting women and their families play a crucial role in enabling every child to have the very best start in life and in reducing health inequalities.
Jane Randall Smith, Chief Officer of Healthwatch Shropshire, said:
“The Local Maternity System Plan aims to turn the vision of the national Better Births report into a reality for the residents of Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin. We are committed to listening to, and meeting the needs and desires of mothers, so it is essential that we hear their voices as we move forward. This is a real opportunity to shape the future of Maternity Voice Partnership and I would urge anyone with an interest to get involved.”
