More parking spaces for residents of Woodberry Close, Bridgnorth
News from our partners Shropshire Towns and Rural Housing
Residents of Woodberry Close in Bridgnorth will soon have more parking spaces as part of a joint project with Shropshire Council.
Planning permission for an extra nine spaces, including four spaces for people with disabilities, was granted back in February 2017 to help solve the current parking problems.
Shropshire Council is now working on the detailed design and specifications of the scheme which include landscaping, fencing and bollards. It aims to complete this work by the end of this year and start work on site in 2018.
Martin Whitelegg, Shropshire Towns and Rural Housing’s Neighbourhoods Manager, said:
“This is a great scheme and we’re pleased to be working with Shropshire Council to make it happen.
“Parking has been a problem in the area for many years and we hope that this new scheme will provide much-needed spaces for residents. The landscaping will also soften the appearance of the spaces, enhancing the area.”
Steve Davenport, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for highways and transport, said:
“We have listened to the concerns and issues which are affecting local residents about parking in this location. By creating additional parking spaces on Woodberry Close it will significantly help to improve the flow of traffic and pedestrian safety.”
