“The festive season is a real busy time of year for us at Greenacres, so if you’re interested, please give us a call or drop in to see us for more information. No experience is necessary but we do ask that you are enthusiastic, passionate and committed to supporting vulnerable people to achieve their full potential.” Mihaela added.
About Greenacres Farm
The 16 acre smallholding, is run by Shropshire Council Adult Services and supports around 30 adults. Those who attend the farm are involved in a variety of activities including, managing poultry units, growing perennial garden, bedding and basket plants, as well as soft fruit and vegetables and Christmas Trees. All produce is either sold fresh, or turned into jams, pickles and chutneys, making them ideal gifts for special occasions.
Councillor Lee Chapman, Cabinet Member for Adult Services at Shropshire Council added;
“We are very proud in Shropshire that we have a very active volunteering community. Many of our local residents choose to volunteer for a variety of reasons. For some it offers the chance to make a difference to the people around them or to give something back to their community. For others it provides a great opportunity to develop new skills or build on existing experience and knowledge.”
“Our adult social care volunteers make a significant contribution to improving the quality of life of a person who has a learning disability, by providing them with ongoing support and giving them encouragement to participate in social and leisure activities of particular interest to them.
“It doesn’t matter how much time you can spare, we would love to hear from any budding volunteers.”
