Shropshire Council is working with partners to ensure residents have access to water
Shropshire Council is working with Severn Trent Water, Telford & Wrekin Council and the emergency services to ensure that residents have access to water following problems with the supply to many homes within the Telford and Shropshire area.
The outage was caused by a major water pipe bursting in the early hours of Sunday morning (24 September 2017).
Bottled water
Bottled water distribution is available from the following locations:
- Birchmeadow Centre in Broseley
- Tesco Madeley car park.
- Museum of the Gorge car park in Ironbridge.
Water is also being tanked into Much Wenlock.
Schools
All schools affected by the incident, including Barrow 1618 CE Primary Free School, John Wilkinson and William Brookes Secondary School, have now reopened.
Please note although Barrow 1618 is open, they still have no running water, so are currently using bottled water and its neighbours are providing sanitation. The school have asked parents to keep their children off if they can.
Water quality – update from Severn Trent Water
While Severn Trent Water work to get the network back to normal, some of their customers may have lower pressure than normal or may experience that their supply is coming and going. There is also the possibility that supplies may be a bit murky, which Severn Trent say is nothing to worry about and is just a result of the way they’re moving their water around the pipes, although they understand that customers might not want to drink it.
