Lezley Picton, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for culture and leisure, said:

“The National Poetry Day is a perfect opportunity for everyone to enjoy and share poems that have impacted our lives and discover what’s new in your local library.”

Alastair Pack, branch manager of Market Drayton Library, said:

“Poetry, like our libraries, offer us a chance to escape, to unwind and become introspective, to put aside memes and try to better ourselves and find the things that make us tick. They bring out the best in us. Make a promise to yourself to visit a library and read a poem on National Poetry Day.”
