STOP THE CLOCK for Shrewsbury Museum at Night
On Wednesday 17 May 2017, Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery will come to life for Museums at Night.
The museum will open its doors between 4pm and 9pm for an exciting programme of art, live music and family-friendly events.
You will be able to enter the clock room and become part of its mechanism as internationally-renowned media artist Andy McKeown turns the museum’s special exhibition gallery into a stunning, immersive light and sound show.
The young and young at heart will be able to create their own doodles on post-it notes and see them transformed into beautiful moving kaleidoscopic light with the Kaleidoscopia LIVE arcade machine.
Hands-on art activities for all ages will be supplied by Hey Day Arts and visitors will be invited to experience the Tudor and Stone Age period as the museum’s Tudor and pre-history exhibitions come to life with Tudor musicians and Stone Age specialists.
Refreshments and live music will also be available at the museum’s Stop.Café.
Fay Bailey, learning and communications manager at Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery, said:
“We are very excited to be hosting our first Museums at Night event on Wednesday 17 May. The museum will be buzzing with activity and we look forward to welcoming visitors of all ages.”
All of this can be enjoyed for as little as £10 with the Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery family offer. See the website for more information.
About Museums at Night
Museums at Night next explodes into life from Wednesday 17 May through to Saturday 20 May 2017.
Twice a year, not-for-profit cultural publisher Culture24 invites all UK museums, galleries and heritage sites to throw open their doors after hours to showcase their treasures in unexpected ways.
Museums at Night is an opportunity for museums and galleries to come together around a single, simple campaign that is attractive to venues, audiences and the media. It’s a social experience, where visitors can get involved, delve deeper into fascinating subjects and perhaps enjoy a cocktail or two with friends.
To everyone involved in the festival, venues and visitors, we hope you have a wonderful time.
