Health advice for the Bank Holiday weekend
News from our partners Shropshire Clinical Commissioning Group (Shropshire CCG)
As the late May Bank Holiday begins from today – Friday 26 May 2017 – through to Bank Holiday Monday, 29 May – and festivals across the county get underway, Shropshire Clincial Commissioning Group (CCG) is reminding people to be prepared.
Dr Jess Sokolov, a local GP and Deputy Clinical Chair of Shropshire CCG said:
“The festival season really gets into swing this weekend, with several festivals taking place in and around Shropshire.
“As part of the preparations we are encouraging people to pack a small first aid kit with a few items to help with minor ailments, such as stomach upsets, allergies, headaches, sunburn, insect bites, aches, sprains and strains. Try to include painkillers, anti-diarrhoea tablets, antihistamines, antiseptic cream, handwash, plasters and dressings. These are widely available from all pharmacists who can also offer you advice on what is best to take away with you.
“As the weather is forecast to be quite warm this weekend try to drink water regularly to stay hydrated. Most importantly, we hope you, your family and friends enjoy the bank holiday – whatever the weather.”
