Chance to try your hand at woodland crafts at Severn Valley Country Park
Members of Shropshire Council’s new ‘Great Outdoors’ scheme are being invited to take part in a day of woodland crafts on Tuesday 25 April 2017 at Severn Valley Country Park.
The Woodland Craft Day runs from 10.30am to 3.30pm and will include a chance to try pole lathing, enjoy a camp-fire lunch, and to use hand tools to create rustic craft items.
The Great Outdoors membership scheme was launched in December 2016 in a bid to secure the future of the county’s country parks.
For £3 a month members can support some of Shropshire’s most iconic, accessible and interesting countryside sites, including Severn Valley Country Park, The Mere at Ellesmere and Snailbeach Mine.
The scheme offers perks including free parking, invites to member exclusive events – such as the Woodland Craft Day – and being first to hear about news and offers.
Clare Fildes, outdoor partnerships enterprise manager with Shropshire Council, said:
“This is an opportunity for members of the Great Outdoors scheme to join our team for a day of woodland crafts. It’s a great example of some of the exclusive events on offer to our members, and we hope it will encourage more people to sign up to this new scheme.
“The Great Outdoors scheme is perfect for anyone who loves the great outdoors – especially dog-walkers, those who ride horses or cycle, or anyone who enjoys walking.
“Funding raised will help us to improve habitat management, encourage wildlife to flourish and look after historic monuments.”
The Woodland Craft Day is on Tuesday 25 April 2017 from 10.30am-3.30pm.
