In the running: Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery among finalists for local award
Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery has been shortlisted as a finalist in the What’s On Readers awards 2017 in the category of Best Art Gallery/Exhibition Venue.
All finalists were nominated by residents of Shropshire and the West Midlands.

Stuart West, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for leisure and culture, said:
“Everyone involved with Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery has worked so hard since it opened in April 2014 to make it a venue that people want to visit and enjoy going to, whether it be the special exhibitions such as the upcoming Rhyme Around the World, or displays of art or our Roman and Medieval exhibitions.
“I’m particularly delighted because it was the people who visit who have nominated us. We’re all thrilled to be shortlisted for this award, let alone be make it as a finalist. I’d like to wish the other finalists good luck.”
Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery hold several special exhibitions throughout the year such as the upcoming Rhyme Around the World and the Antarctica and Samurai exhibitions later this year.
Alongside these special exhibition visitors can enjoy the breath-taking Roman and Medieval exhibitions that are on show all year round.
Coming Soon – Rhyme Around The World
Opening on Saturday 18 February 2017 and running until Sunday 7 May 2017, Rhyme Around the World is an exhibition from Seven Stories, The National Centre for Children’s Books in Newcastle.
This is a perfect day out for families with young children to become immersed in an exciting environment with lots of opportunity to play and learn.
