Essential resurfacing work on the A490 from Chirbury to county boundary
Essential resurfacing work is to be carried out on the A490 from Chirbury heading southeast to the county boundary.
The work will start on 12 September 2016 and last for approximately 10 weeks.
While the work is being carried out the road will be closed between 9am and 3pm each day, with a ‘stop and go’ system in use outside of these hours.
Residents and businesses located along the closed stretch of road will still have access to their properties during the closure periods.
Throughout the closure access will also be provided for pedestrians, cyclists, horse riders, emergency service vehicles and bin lorries.
A signed diversion route will be in place while the road is closed.
Simon Jones, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for highways and transport, said:
“We appreciate that this work will cause some disruption to local residents and businesses located along this stretch of the A490. However, we hope that they will bear with us while this important work is carried out as it will lead to significant improvements for residents, businesses and road users.”
Information about the work, including diversion routes, will be available on a dedicated webpage at shropshire.gov.uk/roadworks. Updates will be added to this page throughout the work to keep people informed of progress.
