Voter registration deadline for EU Referendum fast approaching

To ensure they can have their say in the EU Referendum, Shropshire Council are reminding residents to register to vote by Tuesday 7 June.

Registering to vote is easy and only takes a few minutes and can be done by visiting www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.

If you are not registered to vote by midnight on 7 June, you will not be able to have your say.

To apply for post vote, residents must submit their application by 5pm on Wednesday 8 June to be able to do so.

The Electoral Commission have delivered a booklet to every household across Shropshire that contains important information for voters on the referendum, how to register to vote and how to cast your vote.

Claire Porter, Electoral Registration Officer for Shropshire Council, said:

“There is still time to make sure you can take part in the EU referendum, so I’d encourage everyone in the Shropshire Council area to act now if they’re not already registered to vote.

 

Our message is simple: you can’t vote if you’re not registered by Tuesday 7 June. It’s easy to register and only takes a few minutes online – just head to www.gov.uk/register-to-vote

 

If you are already registered to vote there is no need to register again for the EU referendum.”

The referendum on the UK’s membership of the European Union will take place on Thursday 23 June 2016.
