Some of People2People’s volunteers met this week to receive a certificate of thanks and appreciation to mark National Volunteers Week 1-12 June 2016.

The work of People2People volunteers is extremely important and valued by all in the organisation, and National Volunteers Week is the perfect time to say “thank you”.

Volunteer roles vary, and include peer support volunteers, who work alongside professionals sharing their knowledge and personal experiences to help others maximise their independence; ‘meet and greeters’, who welcome people to Let’s Talk Local hubs across the county; and telephone feedback reviewers, who help us gather the views and opinions of people who have used People2People services, to help us to learn and continually develop and improve.

What all our volunteers have in common is an outstanding commitment and willingness to put in the hard work to help make a difference in whatever ways they can.

John Jones, a meet and greet volunteer working at Let’s Talk Local, and a representative at the People2People South Shropshire Making it Real Advisory Group, said:

“I really like volunteering, it gives me something to do and I get to meet new people which I really enjoy.”

John is keen to encourage other people to volunteer, and said:

“Volunteering is a great opportunity to do something different that you haven’t done before.”
