Take a tour of The Guildhall, University Centre Shrewsbury’s learning and research base

The opportunity to take a look around University Centre Shrewsbury’s learning and research base and chat to staff is on offer at two evening drop-in events before Christmas.

Members of the team, including academics and support staff, will be on hand at The Guildhall, Frankwell Quay, between 6pm and 7.30pm on Tuesday 17 November 2015 and Tuesday 8 December 2015.

People are urged to visit to see the lecture theatre, seminar rooms, labs, business lounge, library, IT suites, stop. @ucs coffee shop, reception area, common rooms and offices.

The evenings also provide the chance to ask any questions about the overall development of the institution, public events, courses, or any other topic people would like to discuss.

University Centre Shrewsbury Provost, Anna Sutton, said:

“Residents, people interested in studying with us, members of community groups, business representatives, and anyone else interested in the University Centre is invited to come along to tour The Guildhall, meet the team, share ideas and ask any questions.

“The Guildhall is a great base for students – but it’s not just students involved in activities here.

“Energize Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin – the county sports partnership – is based at the building, partner organisations such as the Shropshire Business Board have met here and a range of public events are taking place.

“Please drop-in to find out more about the building and what’s happening here. We look forward to showing people what’s on offer and seeing as many familiar and new faces as possible throughout the evenings.”

Forthcoming public events at The Guildhall include a free reading group on Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol on Saturday 19 December, from 1.30pm to 3.30pm. To book a place email Dr Jude Piesse at j.piesse@chester.ac.uk

Events are also being planned for Rowley’s House and other locations in the town.

Light refreshments will be provided at the drop-in and reading group events.

Anyone interested in studying at University Centre Shrewsbury can also find out more by signing up for a place on a campus tour. Taking place each week, campus tours give prospective students the opportunity to view the facilities at The Guildhall, the accommodation at Mardol House and meet with a member of academic staff to talk about their course interest.
