A fresh look at innovative day care services
Shropshire Council has recently commissioned FUSE Enterprise CIC to undertake some feasibility work, looking at the best way forward for Maesbury Metals and Corner Patch, services that support adults with learning disabilities in the north of the county.
FUSE is a social enterprise development company and part of the Wrekin Housing Group, and has considerable experience in developing innovative, enterprising and sustainable ways of working.
Lee Chapman, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for adult services, said:
“We know that these excellent services are greatly valued. We know this because we have listened to people that use the services, their families and their carers. This is why we are keen to ensure that they both have a sustainable future, and continue to support people to get the skills and confidence they need to help them to find employment or to access different opportunities within the day centre or the local community.
“We are looking forward to working with FUSE Enterprise CIC.”
Jean Jarvis MBE, Managing Director of FUSE, said:
“We are really pleased to be working with Shropshire Council at Maesbury Metals and Corner Patch. We will be doing a full review of each service and will then look for new opportunities, new product potential and new routes to market for the great things that they make at Maesbury and Corner Patch. We will be working closely with the local teams to see how best these important services can become financially sustainable.”
